Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 AM–11 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 507 reviews, which is a strong result for a szechuan in Philadelphia and suggests consistent service.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Came here on a Friday night and I'm still thinking about it a week later. Xun Yu Si Kao is on N 10th in Chinatown, and if you walk past it you'd never guess what's going on inside. The charcoal grilled fish is the whole reason to come. Whole catfish, black bean flavor, large size. It arrives in a big metal pan over a live flame at the table, still bubbling. Smoky char on the skin, flesh falling apart underneath, and the broth keeps reducing while you eat so the last bites hit harder than the first. Load it up with add-ins. Tofu skin and potato slices soak up everything. Also worth ordering: the pig ear with chili oil (cold, crunchy, cheap, perfect while you wait), the smashed eggplant with pepper and preserved egg, and the dry sautéed green beans. They bring out free pickled radish and edamame when you sit down, which sets the tone. Two warnings, both meant as compliments. It's genuinely spicy, not "American Chinese spicy," and the fish has real bones. Eat slowly. Fast service, and the staff actually helped instead of just nodding. Order the fish, don't overthink it.

This place is amazing! The fish hotpot is packed with flavor—rich, spicy, and super satisfying. The fish is so tender, and the broth is just incredible. And that eggplant dish? Wow! The sauce is so good, and the eggplant is cooked perfectly—soft and so tasty. Even the green beans were spot on! I’m obsessed with both dishes and can’t wait to come back for more. If you’re into bold, delicious Chinese food, you’ve gotta try this place!

The food here is delicious and authentic! The flavors are bold and spicy — what more could you want from Sichuan cuisine? We ordered way too much food as a group of three, but there are still several dishes I want to go back to try. I highly recommend giving this place a try the next time you’re in the mood for Sichuan flavors.

This place has some amazingly delicious food. We started off with the sliced beef cold cuts for appetizer and some stir fried string beans for our entree. We also ordered the fish where you add additional toppings at additional cost per toppings. It range from $3.99 to $5.99 per toppings. We always get the garlic sauce with a little spicy. The fish dish can run a bit high if you add a lot of topping but it’s definitely worth the price. The food comes out quickly and the service is decent. I recommend this place for any seafood lovers. And definitely order the stir fried string beans.
